Invisalign Procedure

A High-Tech Process

The Invisalign procedure is cutting-edge and actually pretty exciting. Let’s go through it so you know what to expect.

Consultation With Dr. Yoo

During your initial consultation, Dr. Yoo will evaluate your bite and let you know if Invisalign is the right treatment option for you. If you’re a good candidate, they’ll walk you through the process, talk about the cost and answer any questions you have.

Create A Digital 3D Image Of Your Teeth

Here’s where it really gets good. The Palo Alto Orthodontics team will snap some photos of your teeth and mouth and take x-rays and digital impressions with our iTero scanner. We’ll enter all of this information into the computer to generate a 3D model of your mouth. Your orthodontist will specify exactly when and where each tooth will move directly on the model for maximum precision. The technology even lets you see a visual representation of what your teeth will look like during every stage of treatment. It’s the equivalent of an orthodontic crystal ball!

Get Your Custom Aligners

Based on Dr. Yoo’s treatment instructions, Invisalign will create a sequence of finely calibrated aligners – as few as 12 or as many as 48 – manufactured using clear, BPA-free, flexible plastic. You’ll wear your aligners for about 22 hours every day taking them out to brush and floss your teeth and eat.

Pop In A New Set Of Aligners Every Two Weeks

Every two weeks or so, you’ll swap out your aligners for a new set. As you move through the series, your teeth will gradually shift into place. While wearing Invisalign, you won’t need to have adjustments performed. However, you’ll still come in for regular appointments so your doctor can check on your progress.

Reveal Your New Smile!

When you take out your last set of aligners, your teeth will have reached the final alignment prescribed by your orthodontist. You’ll be able to bask in your beautiful, healthy smile!
